We went on a search for artists in Nebraska, refugees and immigrants who want to share their music with the world. The music we found represented the sound of home for artists from Rwanda, Syria, Iran, and Ukraine. These are their stories and their songs.
When words fail to express our stories, art steps in. These songs are an opportunity to share what we cannot say, to convey the richness of culture and life, to give us the sound of home.
1. Give refugee musicians a platform to tell their story thru music, and offer the tools they need to generate income with their music to help bring more of their at risk family to our shores.
2. Help them find community and transition to their new life with us here in their new home.
3. Help them maintain their culture and identity through their experience with music and inspire their communities with the sound of home.
If you know a Nebraska based refugee artist that wants to make an EP and develop as an musician, please share this site with them as we will be looking for our next round of artists soon. Official submissions will open sometime in the spring and we will update the site here when we are ready.
